Eric L. Miskell

Eric L. Miskell founded The Miskell Law Center, LLC in 1997.   Mr. Miskell has been licensed to practice law since 1993.   Eric is a graduate of Creighton University School of Law and has been licensed in the States of Illinois, Iowa and Nebraska. He has also been  licensed to practice in the United States Federal Court in the Northern District of Iowa. Eric has four children: Erin Miskell who attends Augustana College (Doctor of Physical Therapy), as well as Hannah, Nathan and Lindsay who attends Marquette Academy.

Mr. Miskell makes resides in on the countryside of his hometown of Ottawa, Illinois.  He prides himself as a committed and active member of the community.  The Miskell Law Center, LLC handles cases in all areas of the law.  Eric limits his practice as the lead counsel in the Worker's Compensation, Personal Injury, Criminal, Family / Domestic matters and as the Principal for its Real-Estate Title Company.  Eric is/has been a member of: the North Ottawa Business Advisory Committee for the City of Ottawa, City of Ottawa Parks and Recreation Board, Ottawa Girls Fastpitch Association, Deer-park Country Club, Knights of Columbus, Marquette Go Club, Ottawa Lions Club, Starved Rock Yacht Club, Wide Waters Yacht Club and the Ottawa Port Authority.

Thomas G. Ganiere

Thomas G. Ganiere joined The Miskell Law Center, LLC. as an associate attorney in 1998. Mr. Ganiere is a 1995 graduate of the Chicago-Kent College of Law. In addition to his legal appointments, Mr. Ganiere is a retired local firefighter, real-estate appraiser and realtor. Tom has served as a Board Member for the LaSalle County Board and currently is seated as a Commissioner with the City of Ottawa.  Tom has served on numerous civic committees and boards and was the past Union Bargaining Representative for the Ottawa Firefighters. 

Tom currently handles cases involving Estate Planning, Probate, Trusts and Wills. In addition, his unique experience gives him special insight in the ageas of Employment Law, Social Security Disability, Real-estate Transactions, and Driver's Licence Reinstatement.


Melanie Johnson

Melanie S. Johnson has brought her paralegal skills to the Miskell Law Center, LLC in 2014.  Melanie is a 2000 graduate of Ottawa Marquette High School and a 2006 graduate of Mount Mary College with a Bachelors in Philosophy and Apparel Product Development.    Melanie is instrumental in the office managment, docket coordination, and client services while servicing as the lead paralegal in the Criminal Law section of the Law Center.    Ms. Johnson resides in Ottawa with her daughter.   If you need to contact Melanie, please call or e-mail her at

Michael M. Thompson

Michael Thompson resides in Naperville, Illinois. He is the proud father of six children.  Mike is a 1998 graduate of New Mexico State University earning a Bachelor's of Science in Biochemistry with an emphasis in molecular biology and chemistry.  After that, Michael attended Temple University's Beasley School of Law.   He was employed by the United States Patent Office as a New Patent Examiner.  Mr. Thompson passed the U.S. Patent Bar and is a current member of the Patent Bar.  He was previously associated with the Law Firm of Lipton, Weinberger & Husick of Exton, PA. Keith L. Vancil

Keith L.G. Vancil joined the Miskell Law Center, LLC in 2009 initially as our Real Estate Professional.  Keith is a 2003 graduate of Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.  From 2003 through 2009, Mr. Vancil served as Vice President at First National Bank of Ottawa and Old Second Bank of Ottawa. Keith's vast experience in lending and real estate closing preparation and escrow is the key reason our real-estate department has grown three fold over the last 6 years.  Mr. Vancil has been Certified as a Closing Agent by Attorney Title Guaranty Fund for all real-estate closings and/or Construction Escrow Agent needs.  Keith currently resides in Lake Holiday with his wife Lindsay and children.   Mr. Vancil's community involvement includes, but isn't limited to, being a past Treasurer of the Reddick Manson Association; Morning Ottawa Business Builder's Group; as well as a soft ball coach with the Ottawa Girls Fastpitch Association.
